Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

being required to work without pay to receive unpaid leave

1st- I'd like to thank Mr. Moroknek

for his response. I understand that it is soley up to the admin to approve of unpaid leave. My question is more about the condition the superintendent tied to approval of the unpaid leave. Is is legal to use this situation or any kind of employment situation to gain free work from an employee?

Thank you.

Re: being required to work without pay to receive unpaid leave

Your question is a matter of contract interpretation, which is subject to arbitration of disputes, where there is a CBA.
