Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
My school district is asking me to take a leave of absence bc my temp literacy cert expires 8/31/10 and they won't allow me to function as a lit coach (my position) under my perm elem ed cert temporarily. I just have to complete one more course that I am already registered for this fall and then I will have my permanent cert for literacy.
They are saying that my medical will stop until I resume my position and that I can't use any of my sick or personal days to get paid...Is this accurate? What are my rights? What are the loopholes/absolutes?...

I don't know enough about this case to answer fully. Many factors determine your rights to use sick and personal days for payment. File for unemployment and go down to Medicaid for health ins during that time.
