Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I started working at a bank as a part time teller. We get paid every other week. For the first two weeks I am training full time. On my third pay week I was informed a day before that I would not be getting paid on Friday. I was then informed...on Monday by the way that they needed to take back 75 hrs I worked because they said there needed to be a lag. I am not sure how they can take back what i had worked. i looked back and from 05/24 to 06/4 I was paid for what I worked. Then 6/7 to 6/18 I was paid but for the pay week 6/21 to 7/2 They took back 75 hrs. Is this right? i technically worked all those hours how can they take them back. Everything in my account overdraft and I recieved fees for things that were to come through. I was informed I would not be getting these fees taken off because I wasn't to get a pay check. Is this right of them or even legal? If I was informed ahead of time I would have at least stopped payments from coming through so I wouldn't be charged.
Please help.
Thanks

That certainly sounds like an illegal payment practice. Contact the State Department of Labor and file a complaint. If the bank fires you or retaliates against you for filing the complaint, you should contact a severance attorney who deals with unlawful termination.
Good luck!
