Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Unemployment Insurance Eligibility

I work for a large non-profit in New York. I was hired to work 4 days a week between Monday and Friday, prime shift (anytime from 8 AM until 6 PM). Since my hiring the company went to a 24 by 7 schedule and hired people for weekends and evenings (my schedule remained the same). Now they want to rearrange the schedule so that everyone works weekends. In fact I would have to work 5 out of every 7 weekends. If I quit because of this change would I be entitled to unemployment benefits?

Re: Unemployment Insurance Eligibility

It is extremly likely that you would be disqualified from receoiving unemployment benefits unless you can show that you would be severly harmed by working on weekends.
