Unpaid for services rendered

A few years ago I fulfilled work as a cameraman for a video for a corporate client and based on a rented equipment malfunction (not my equipment) the producer who hired me refused to pay me even though the work was completed and delivered to the client. Is there a time limit as to making a claim in small claims court?

Statute of limitations is 6 years on a contract.
