Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Unpaid wages

The company I was working for owes me around $8000 in unpaid wages. I want to recover my money but I dont have much left for a lawyer. As I was making more that $600 a week, $37500 a year, I cannot use the Department of Labor. What shoul I do?

Heres some of the story: the company not only owes me, but also my co workers. We were all working in computer programming and maketing posts. They kept telling us lies about when to be paid, and in some cases they were promising and filing working visas, that was the reason for us to stay with them even when we are not paid since January. They got evicted from the building a week ago, as they were not paying the office's rent.

Do we have a case? If so, what would be the aproximate charge of a lawyer in case we need one? Indivudual claims or a group one?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Re: Unpaid wages

Depending upon the facts of your case, the Department of Labor and FLSA provide statutes by which you are eligible to sue for unpaid wages. More importantly, depending upon your circumstances, you may be eligible for attorneys' fees if you decide to sue for your lost wages and you are victorious. Thus, you can engage an employment attorney who knows the law AND recoup your lost wages and any fees you paid out if your lawsuit is successful. If you are interested in learning more, please email me below as I would be happy to discuss this with you and any fees that would go along with it. Thanks for the question. I welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you.
