Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

verbal agreement change

I work as an independent consultant. Recently, i was told by an administartor that i would be required to attend a group seminar to present cases. In the past, i attended individual supervision to present cases because of a public speaking phobia. The mode of supervision was approved by the head of the department in the past. Since i am an independent consultant, do i have any legal recourse to refuse group seminar supervision, and do i have any rights to pursue litigation if i am fired if i don't agree to their demands due to my limitation?

Re: verbal agreement change

You may if you are relieved from your contract and you can find a licensed medical practitioner who can verify that you suffer from a true and valid disability. It is possible that your situation is covered by the Americans With Disabilities Act which would require your employeror cotractor to come up with an alternate means of satisfying your disability if practical.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.
