Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I work for a company in NYC, which has decided to impose retroactive paycuts. I did not sign any contract, nor was there any disclosure however I am being told, everyone knows this is how it works,

A pay cut cannot be imposed retroactively, only prospectively. In other words, your employer must pay you the salary (or hourly rate) you agreed to work for, for all time worked so far. However, your employer can reduce your pay for all work performed going forward. If you still do the work, knowing about the reduced pay, you have agreed to work for the new pay.
