Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

i work overnight shift 11p-7am in a limo dispatch room just desks, phones, and computers no hazards; i am single mom w 6 year old girl, i get stuck sometimes and i have to take off or bring my daughter to work, my boss okayed it for emergency situation, i had sleeping bag and pillows, however he said it cant happen its a liability, if i as the parent sign a release for if anything happened, am i allowed to have her with me as long as the boss says ok, or is there a law im breaking, if its just liability do i have the option to sign a release? i ask due to the fact that my babysitter quit and i think im stuck for a few weeks before i approach them i wanted to know the law,
