Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
i work for walmart and the other day i was wrongfully accused of taking a customer's phone what they seen on camera was me taking my phone and placing it back in my pocket after i offered the customer my phone to call her phone. i was approached at customer service where i process returns by the police and an assistant manager and a asset protection associate and was told to come with them they took me to the loss prevention office where i was told they don't want to no trouble and to give back the customer phone and then i said show me on camera with me taking the phone they pulled the camera shot and what they see is me putting a phone into my pocket. I then pulled out my phone and it is the same phone that they accused me of taking on the camera. once they realized that it was my phone all they can say was sorry, mind you i was escorted to the back in front of my co-workers and a store full of customers by a police officer and assistant manager and a asset protection associate to be wrongfully accused of stealing a customer phone. can u imagine how humiliating that was. I need to know can i sue them and on what grounds?
