Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I have worked for my current company for over three years at my current location and they had hired someone in my position and they are now reassigning to a traveling position. I live in NYC and the areas are in New Jersey in two locations and Long Island I will not be offered the commission I have been making in NYC and I have no car and have to take public transit and cabs to get to work. The travel will be 2 to 3 hours per day to and from, when my original travel was 15 min. Is this legal to change your tittle and locations you were hired for?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Yes. Employment in New York is considered at-will, meaning that an employer can not only fire you at any time for any non-discriminatory reason, but that they can alter your title, hours, location and anything else that has not been previously agreed upon in writing per a binding employment contract.
Good luck!
