Legal Question in Employment Law in New York
I I have been working for the same employer for 6 years. When my salary of 575 a week was agreed upon it was for a 40 to 45 hours, instead I was forced to work 60+. Also I was never allowed a mealtime break. I was not allowed to use my personal time I had accrued (was told they were too shorthanded). After 5 years of nutritional neglect I got sick physically and mentally. I had suffered a work-stress related breakdown and was given two weeks medical leave. In that first week I received calls from my supervisor claiming I was unprofessional and could be replaced. At that moment I quit for health and quality of life reasons. I was denied unemployment by them also. Is there any recourse I can take?

Have you appealed the unemployment decision. If you have not you should immediately.
You should also file a claim with the Department of Labour regarding the denial of mealtime breaks. Moreover, you should file a claim for the overtime you did not receive.
