Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I think I was wrongfully terminated, can anyone offer advice?

Hi I'm in a bad situation right now.I had resigned from my job. The day before my scheduled last day I was called into the administrator's office along with the new hospital manager and told that I was being asked to leave for violating my confidentiality agreement. What they said violated the agreement was that the night before the former hospital manager who is still an employee as the dog groomer and who left on good terms called and asked me to fax her the hospital's discharge form a form that was given out to patients going home from surgery.I fixed the mistake on the form that I had to fix for the next time they were printed and faxed her it.I never thought that this would be wrong. When they gave us the agreement they said we would get a copy of it returned to us signed by the hospital owner which never happened.Myself and someone else both believe they really feel that I did something I didn't do and that's the true reason they intentionally hurt me.Do I have a case here? And additionally, in the future do I have to say that I was fired?I don't want something that a malicious employer did to me to follow me forever...What should I do?Thank you for any advice.
