Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
Abandoned Property
A friend of mine used to work for a dog rescue. She was given 2 large outside dog pens to use for dogs she would foster. Last month, exactly 31 days ago, she left the rescue and they sent her a letter regarding the pens. She told them that they were still on her property and they could come and pick up the pens anytime. They have not done so and have no further contact with her since. What are her legal rights to these pens? Can she dispose of them, sell them, give them away? She does not want to get into a legal battle if she gets rid of them and have written to them since regarding the pens, but no response. How long does she have to keep these to be considered abandoned and face no recourse to disposal? Thank you in advance :)

Re: Abandoned Property
She should write the animal rescue regarding their intention with the pens and give them a reasonable time limit to pick them up.
