Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

i been in my apt for 4 years. My landlord raised my rent 2 years ago $50 to $1000 a month. He just notified me he is increasing my rent by $200. i live in a 1bdrm apt in a private house. Is this a legal increase.

If the certificate of occupancy for the house is for a 1 family dwelling, and 2 or more families are living in the house (you and the landlord), then the entire lease agreement is illegal.
