Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Backing out...

Plan was to rent house out to co-worker/friend; I and family were planning to relocate to Fla. Plans have fallen through. Friend has seen house and wants very badly to rent. No paperwork has transpired as yet. Application forms have been mailed- not recieved, as of yet. Question is, can we back out of this? Staying here is our only viable option, at this time. Please advise.

Re: Backing out...

A rental agreement need one of two things to become final: the tenant moving in or a written agreement signed by both parties. let your friend know immediately you cannot follow through before he commits himself with airline tickets and moving vans.
