Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
carpet required
I have loud tenants above me who do not have any carpeting. Is this required by law in new york and can the landlord be required to inforce this law. I am going insane here. thank you

Carpeting isn't required by law. But different municipaliteies have noise limits. If you beleive your neighbors are above the legal limit you can call the Department of Housing in your city or whatever agency is in charge of enforcement. If other tenants in your building have compalints about the neighbor, you can lodge a complaint with the landlord regarding the excessive noise.
