Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
Cosigning for apt
I have been asked to co-sign for an apt for an aqauintance whose credit isn't good. If I do so, what are the legal responsibilities I have in case this person fails to pay the rent? Can I be held responsible for her by co-signing?

By co-signing for the apartment. You are guaranteeing payment for it. If your friend fails to pay, oyu will be completely responsible.
