Get deposit back from landlord

My Landlord did not refund the deposit without any explaination after 45 days of moving out. He is currently in Europe, and put the property on market for sale. How can I put a lien on the property ? Once he sold the property, I may not be able to find him.

You need to take him to small claims court, get a judgment and then file it in the county where the home is.
