Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
i entered into an oral rental agreement gave the guy 1400 dollars moved most of my stuff in and for the last 2 days house is locked and he wont answer my calls. I am to be out of my other place today and into the new place. what are my rights?

Are you absolutely certain that he is the owner and you haven't been defrauded? I could be jumping to conclusions but it sounds a bit fishy to me.
Did you pay in cash? If you paid by check, you may consider stopping payment to the "landlord".
