As Mr. Markowitz states the eviction is not complete until the landlord obtains a judgment of possession from the local housing court. Once were you served with a notice and petition? Is there a court date yet? We have substantial experience handling these types of cases, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. Re: Evicted now a holdover tenant

If you are not out by the end of the month the landlord must commence a summary proceeding to obtain Judgment of Possession and Warrant of Eviction. You will be served papers. On the return date of the petition you can go to Court and ask the Judge for time to obtain another apartment.
