Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Eviction due to landlord family member occupancy.

I am renting an apartment in a private house on Staten Island and my landlord wants me to move so that they can give the apartment to thier family members. Am I entitled to be compensated? How much time am I entitled to have to move?

Re: Eviction due to landlord family member occupancy.

Do you have a lease? If you have a valid effective lease are there grounds for eviction other than they want a family member to move in?

Private homeowners have more rights with respect to tenants then multiperson dwellings so it may be perfectly legal to evict you but if you would like, you can call me and whe can discuss your situation in detail.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line, or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.
