When a landlord evicts you, how long by law does he have to give you to vacate the property?

Your residence appears to be upstate and not in NYC. This is an important point.
The landlord & Tenant rules are very specific. The notice is generally 30 days, but it can be very different depending on what kind of tenant you are. For example, a tenancy incidental to employment requires no notice.
