Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

helping elderly grandparents

my grandparents own an apartment building. one of the tenents was arrested for dealing drugs (out of the apt.) all material goods left behind by the, how long do we need to store them?and who could we legally release them too if the tenent is still in jail? the tenent owed 1 month of rent and my grandparents paid an electric bill for the apt. how can they legally get the money they are owed?

Believe it or not, landlord/tenant law is fairly complex and is practiced differently throughout NYS. There are too many issues involved in your question to provide an answer here.
