Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

My landlord is evicting me because I could not pay HIS...yes,his electric bill. I have been served notice to appear in court. Can he really do this?

I would have to read the lease agreement. However, assuming there is no written lease agreement, the answer is no.
