Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
landlord & tenant part 2
I asked the question previously, but, did not give enough detail about our relationship with the landlord. Previously we had a 6 month lease that expired in May. The landlord called and asked if we wanted to continue through the end of the year. We said yes and signed another lease. Now that we are in December we had assumed that the same thing would happen. It didn't. She called me and told me that she wants us out. It is the 18th of the month and she wants us gone by the 31st. I don't know what to do. I have a child in school, it's Christmas. I live in Orange County if that matters. How can I extend to at least be there through January?

Re: landlord & tenant part 2
It could depend on the language of the lease you signed. In either event you have important rights and should speak with a local landlord/tenant attorney. Here is the link to the Orange County Bar Association landlord/tenant attorneys: http://www.orangelaw.org/landlord_tenant.html or contact another attorney of your own choice.
