Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Please help!

Is there any possible way to get out of a lease in the state of New York?

I moved into my first apartment building in April and between seeing roaches and being harassed by one of my neighbors (which has been reported to the police and to the building management) I feel like I am now trapped in my own home, is there any possible way to get out of a one year lease?

Re: Please help!

You might be able to claim constructive eviciton if you have complained to the landlord and he has done nothing in a reasonable amount of time to rectify the roach conditions at least. As for the neighbor, I would need more information with respect to the quality of the "harassment."

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line, or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.
