Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
I live in manhattan. I was presented with a lease renewal increase of 600.00 dollars which I never agreed to at the end of October. My lease was up in November. After some discussions and no signed contracts of lease renewals, the management office said they would lower the increase to 500.00 instead of 600.00 dollars. They would not even do. Month to month lease. This increase is not consistent with the previous two years of increases. although they said they will not honor my suggestion of 300 dollar increase, in both December and January I was sent a bill for the original 2012 rent amount which I have paid. What are my rights, and what do you suggest.

Is the apartment rent controlled or rent stabilized? If not, the landlord can likely charge any rent they wish. We have substantial experience handling these types of cases, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination.
