Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
I am living in a Brooklyn apartment with a consistently inconsistent set of fees and rent demands from our landlords. Since signing a lease a year ago we have been subjected to burst sewage pipes, raining light fixtures, and three different bouts of being locked INSIDE our own house. We are leaving at the end of the month, and they are insisting that three months worth of rent has accrued. This is all in addition to them refusing to acknowledge our security deposit, when we have it in writing that it was paid.
Where is a good place to start with this? We need to be out by sept 1st, and want to handle the situation before then
