To request rental arrears when the agreement was for you to live rent free is improper. However, going forward, the landlord may request rent. The landlord also has the right to possession of the apartment - for any reason. However, for an eviction the landlord must follow law, obtain a Judgment of Possession and Warrant of Eviction, and use either a Sheriff or Marshal to execute the Warrant.
