Move in date

I have rented an apartment for April 1 which falls on a tuesday. Is it legal for the landlord to have me pay an extra 22.50 per day from the saturday before until the 1st of april?

No it is not.

If your lease begins on April 1, your rent starts on April 1. What would be the reason for you paying from March 29th? Unless of course...you agreed to this.
