Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

hi my name is nancy and i have a problem with the landlord,i apply for housing and housing called and ask him what kind of tenant i was and he stated that i live here for over 18 years and that i pay my rent always on time but there's a problem this is a private house and he has this appartment as if it was a office of realastate now housing send me a letter saying that i do not qualify for any need base priority because i reside in a standard housing and have a rent hardship of 50%or less i had to take a room mate to help with rent so that i dont lose my appartment after my mom passed away and im on ssi and can effort the rent and the room mate has to leave soon what can i do?im sorry that i dont know how to express my self.please help me.nancy irizarry there's offices here in my area but no one wants to help why is that?

That is an agency better suited to answer your questions.
