Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Pitt Bull Attack

On Tuesday of this week my dog was viciously attacked by a Pitt Bull.

Due to the extent of the injuries my Beloved Pet of 10 years had to be Euthanized. I have files charges against the dog owner through the Corporate Council of my City.

My question is this: Since this man is a renter and the owner was fully aware of the situation with said animals (he has 4 by-the way) can I legally persue the homeowner as well for emotional and punitive damages???

Re: Pitt Bull Attack

It would be very difficult to prove causation, or that there was some fault on the part of the homeowner... unless there is a psecific policy AGAINST dogs which was permitted to be violated by this renter... now, that doesnt sound like the case because the owner himself has such dogs, you mentioned... overall your best bet would be to simply go after the ower of the dog for such damages.
