Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
my previous landlord is threatening to sue me for unpaid rent. what are my options. i no longer live there and he did not evict me. unfortunately i am not in a position at this time to pay him back

Legally, you do not have to pay an individual until he or she obtains a judgment against you. However, you may want to settle with the landlord - especially if you owe money - before you get to that point in time.
