Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
Procedures for nonrenewal of lease
In a NY State residential lease, what are the procedures for nonrenewal of a tenant's lease? How much notice should be given? Is there a standard format for the written notification.
Thank you for your help.

In general there is no form/procedure. Your lease states what date the lease expires and it's expired. No prior notice is necesary UNLESS your lease so states.

Re: Procedures for nonrenewal of lease
When a lease is for time (epires on a date) there is no notice nevessary that the lease be renewed, unless there is a clause in the lease which requires one. All that is needed is for the lease to end, and the landlord to no longer accept rent after the date the lease ends.
