Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
I rented a room or area in my home to a tenant. She was not paying rent on time and had bounced a check (later made god) so I wrote her the rent is due on 1st. She didn't like that so we mutually agreed that she would move out end of Dec. She did not pay the remainder of Nov and if she did not paint the aprtment would not get her security back.
On Dec 20th she was out but left her possessions in the space. She did not return keys but came into space with her keys on 12/1. I had rented the space to a new person who was moving in later that day. Old person who already had left now calls cops and now was told by cops she could stay and I hve to evict her.
We have emails back and forth that shows she agreed to leave -waht do I do? I'm in NY
