Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
renting a house in town of Brookhaven, LI
I have a one yr. lease that expires 3/07. Town requires a rental registration by landlord- none in existence. Also requires broker to be aware of requirement.Am I legally bound by lease if rental is in violation of town bldg. code?

Yes. You would be bound by the lease since the rental registration is a procedural formality. However, the landlord could receive a fine from the Town.
