That is a problem. I would first demand - in writing - that the landlord fix the door so that it closes and locks. When you make the demand in writing, be sure to state that if the landlord does not correct the problem, that you would retain a contractor to repair the door and you would seek reimbursement from the landlord for the repair. I would send the letter by both certified mail and regular mail.

If that does not work, repair the doors and commence a small claims action against the landlord for the amount paid.
