Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
I wish to sue an old landlord for failing to return my security deposit. The landlord lives six hours away. When I went to court, they said I had to file in the city where she lives. I disagree. You can sue in the city where a person has a place of business, and it is my contention that the house she rents out is a place of business and thus I can sue them here. What do you think?
