Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

I am the superintendent at the building I reside in. I have been having an issue with the man who lives downstairs. He refuses to listen to anything I say regarding the building such as simple knowledge like the garbage disposal or the front door being left wide open every single night and day. He has become unbearable. Him and I exchanged some words, he threated me and was really close in my face with his cell phone trying to take pictures and record me. I slapped the phone out of his hand. He called the cops, I admitted to the officer that I did slap the phone out of his hand. The man did not press charges and the officer said if he wanted to do anything about it afterwards, that he couldnt if he didn't file a report then and there. He said once he left, there was nothing he could do. I have been avoiding any confrontation with him because I do not want any issues. He is trying to ask me for the money for his phone saying its $450, I laughed and walked away. He's always ignored me when I try to talk to him about anything so I'm just doing the same. He made a comment about taking the money out of my account for the building. I'm assuming that would be rent. I'm only the super not the landlord. The landlord has nothing to do with the argument and should be paid her rent regardless. Would I be held accountable and at this point? Would the landlord be able to terminate a lease if she feels he isn't following rules and conduct as a tenant? This isn't the first issue and it's becoming a burden and to avoid future issues, I'd like to know what my landlord can do.

Thank You
