Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
Unreasonable eviction
I moved into a building; 2916 Grand Concourse, Bronx 10458 NY, on May 24th, and two weeks later was issued an eviction notice with efect on 23rd May 2003.During the short period of stay, the manager has abused me verbally in front other residents saying I am slow, and talking about my income in the public. I made a complaint about this to the board of directors and that is when the Landlord issued me the eviction notice.
I paid my deposit including a one month rent and the manager has not given me any reason for eviction.
I need advice on what to do, and I want to know how good I may be with my case.
Thanks.

Re: Unreasonable eviction
This sounds like a very unpleasant building to live in. Of course, the landlord's behavior is inappropriate and gives you many legal rights.
1) You may fight the eviction (probably successfully) and (2)move and sue the landlord for the costs of moving. These are 2 of your options. You are welcome to a consultation with me for no fee at my offices at 42 West 44th Street, NY,NY. Please call for an appointment first - (646) 591-5786
