Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Visiting Dog

We own a co-op. The by-laws state no dog, cat, etc. shall be kept or harbored. A dog must be carried or kept on a leash when on common property. We no not own a dog but our daughter visits with her dog every one to two weeks. . The dog does not live with us and is walked on a leash and picked up after. She does not stay overnight nor is the dog left alone in the co-op. We are being told we are in violation of the by-laws and we feel we are not...especially since there are many people who own cats and they are not being harrassed. Do we have any recourse ?? Thank you.

Re: Visiting Dog

If the by-laws read as you state, as long as the dog is not staying overnight it seems you are not in violation of the by-laws but goign against a co-op board is like knocking your head against the wall. There is little you can do about this absent a lawsuit or change of configuration on the board.
