Legal Question in Legal Ethics in New York

My current employer is paying for my Attorney to handle a issue with a past employer. My question is, can i trust that everything my attorney and I talk about remains between us and is not relayed to my current employer?

This the question that everyone should ask when a third party, such an employer or insurance company, pays for an attorney. It should also include who is in charge of the case (settlement, etc.). Speak with the attorney about the attorney-client privilege and case control. Also, review the contract you signed with the attorney or the employer. You may have waived certain rights under the contract.
