Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in New York

Lawyer lies and I dont get a penny

I was told by my attorney that my insurance company and medical providers agreed to settle for 1/3 of a personal injury case. This would net him 1/3 as myself the same. He told the Judge this as well but 2 days after trial and after i verbally agreed the attorney told me the medical providers changed and wouldnt agree to a settlement of less than was owed and now I had to pay them. The attorney gets his money and I get nothing. I have documented proof that he had not negotiated this prior to trial so he had indeed lied to not only me but the judge as well. What should I do

If your verbal acceptance was not on the record in court it is not binding. Advise your lawyer immediately in writing it is not an acceptable settlement figure (if that is your belief). If it was on the record the, according to your question, your attorney misrepresented a material fact and he or she may be personally liable. However, much more needs to be investigated.
