Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in New York

Legal Malpractice

In August of 1990, I lawyer was represting me in a malpratice case against two other attaorneys. I gave him a $1000 retainer. We went to court in November of that year the case was posponened. He filed the paperwork, but did not do anything after that. I kept asking for a status of the case; however he kept putting me off telling me these types of cases take time. Needless to say nothing has ever been done. All I have is a docket number for the original case. Do I have a case againt this attorney?
