Assuming you are talking about a case in which negligence is the relevant cause of action, you have three years from the time of the malpractice in which to bring your action, except under certain very specific and limited conditions which allow for an extended time. However, there are other causes of action under which the time may be shorter.
If you believe you or a loved one has been injured or killed as a result of malpractice, you should consult with an attorney immediately, in order to both safeguard your rights and any evidence which may be helpful in litigating your case.
