Damage during procedure
My 23 yr old son received burns to his upper lip during whitening of his teeth. After one week he is suffering to what I consider second degree burn. What is my recourse? Where do I go for help and how to proceed?

Re: Damage during procedure
He may be able to sue for dental malpractice. The statute of limitations is 2 1/2 years. There are notice of claim requirements and shorter statutes if there is municipality or the State involved. Whether the case warrants filing a suit depends on how severe the injury is because these are expensive cases to bring. Among other things, the attorney needs to get an expert witness to say there is malpractice. One important factor will be whether or not there will be permenant scarring. My firm handles these cases on a contingency basis so please feel free to contact me to discuss further.
