Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in New York

Lawyer Confidentiality

I am looking for a laywer to represent me on a medical malpractice case. One firm has turned me down because they felt the case would cost too much. Is all the information I gave them about my case confidential? How do I find a lawyer that will represent me now? Is it ok to shop around or is it best to not be giving all of my information around town? I am nervous now to tell another firm all of my details and for others to find out.

Re: Lawyer Confidentiality

Whatever you told the first lawyers remains confidential, even if they did not take your case. In terms of trying to find a lawyer to take your case, you will have to tell them everything about your situation and allow them to obtain your medical records - this is the only way the lawyer can decide if he or she can take the case. Please fell free to contact me if you wish.
