Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in New York

Legal advice for a doctor

My aunt is a psychiatrist. She recently got in trouble because she was taking 2 different medications to help her sleep that she had prescribed in her ex-husband's name. She admited her guilt and had her psychiatric-drug-prescribing licence suspended and is now facing several different charges, including a felony. The sleeping medication doses she had been taking were both normal doses. The hospital she works at says she might not be able to work there anymore. My question's are 1) is this really a felony crime , 2) can the hospital legally fire her, and 3) should she be using a lawyer that is a friend of hers?

It is definitely bad, but a good lawyer would be a real help

Falsely prescribing a controlled substance is a serious breach and could easily result in criminal sanctions, loss of employment and even the suspension of removal of her license.

she definitely needs to have a good attorney. if her friend is such a creature then fine. if not then hiring someone who is good is certainly worth the expense.

If she needs help finding a qualified attorney please let me know.
