Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in New York

My wife had judgement in her favor in 2000. It was for 250K against the doctor who damages her jaw bone. However the lawyer who was handling this case abandoned it and then died shortly. Records are lost. All attempts to get a copy failed. Is there anything I can still do ?

Go to the county clerk for the county where the case was sued and you should be able to get a copy of the judgment by giving them your wife's name and the name of the Dr.

Judgments need to be renewed every 10 years, but it should still be on file with the clerk. You will then need to hire a lawyer to collect the judgment.
